Membership:
Thanks for
your interest in the Ford Amateur Radio League, also known as "The Tin
Lizzy Club", and for considering membership in our organization.
We are a member of the Ford Employee Recreation Association (FERA) and
support both our amateur radio hobby as well as the Ford Motor Company through
our activities. We have regular Club meetings and several social and field
events throughout the year and publish a Club newsletter (The Bolt). Our goals
are to: 1.
Actively promote
our hobby through community and public service events 2.
Provide education
and support for those interested in becoming amateur radio operators (or
learning more about the many aspects of amateur radio) 3.
Be prepared to
provide emergency communications during disasters 4.
Provide a venue
for anyone interested in amateur radio to meet and discuss issues of interest
and importance There are
3 types of membership recognized by the FERA and our Club bylaws: 1.
Regular (Employee
or Immediate Family) - All Ford Motor Company employees and their immediate
family members qualify for Regular-Employee or Regular-Immediate Family member
status. 2.
Associate -
Non-Ford personnel qualify for Associate memberships.
The total number of Associate members is limited to 10% of the entire
membership. 3.
Honorary- Active
club members who retire, and other hams chosen for special recognition, qualify
for the Honorary membership. New
members are sponsored by current Club members who act as their "Elmer"
for general information or support. All
membership applications are voted upon by a quorum of the Club membership
present at a regular Club meeting once both the application and annual dues are
received. Dues are currently $15
for the year and must be paid by April of each year. Applications and dues can be presented to any FARL member for
review and membership voting, or can be mailed to: FARL, PO Box 2711 Dearborn,
MI 48123. Thank you,
once again, for your interest in our Club and we hope you will submit the
application form on the back of this information sheet for membership with us.
You are welcome to come as a guest to any Club meetings and to join us in
presentations and discussions we have. We
meet every 2nd Thursday of the month (except July and August) at 7
PM, and are currently meeting at the Engine Manufacturing Development Operations
(EMDO) building located at 17000 Southfield in Allen Park (next to the Allen
Park Police Station). The building
has secure access through the front lobby and you will need to be escorted by a
Club member to the meeting area, so please be prompt. Links:
